Co-founder of Ocean Program, David Ward, has unfortunately handed away. A titan of the Uk games business, Ward’s Ocean Application was one of the biggest European recreation builders and publishers in the ’80s and ’90s.

This news was discovered by Just Flight founder Andy Payne on Twitter, and there has been an outpouring of guidance and disappointment on this news from people today throughout the British isles games market.

Ocean Video games was started up in 1983 by Ward and Jon Woods as a mail-order company named Spectrum Video games, in which they sent out copies of games centered on movie game clones for the ZX Spectrum, between other consoles. They altered their title to Ocean Program next confusion that they only produced online games for the Spectrum consoles.

The Manchester-centered developer was most famed for its comprehensive library of fantastic accredited game titles, from The Addams Family members on the SNES, Batman: The Motion picture for the Amiga and Commodore 64, The Flintstones motion picture tie-in, and for creating a few RoboCop video games on different devices.

The developer was a big section of many people’s childhoods throughout the ’80s, so it can be tough to overstate the affect of Ward’s studio, in particular in the United kingdom. We send our ideas to his family and friends.
